As the world goes to sleep,
Only 2 souls remained awake.
In about 5 hours time, we reached our destination, Perth International Airport. It was night when we arrived at about 9 p.m. By the time baggage were cleared, we reached Alexandra Heights at about 11 p.m. where a car was already waiting for us to be driven to Kingsway Acclaims Tourist Park. The 2 drivers needless to say were
and
We realised that our stay at the Kingsway Park were not up to our comfortability expectations. Mum was explicitly expressing her dissatisfaction where fortunately, we only had to stay for 3 nights. It was just to experience life in the suburb. Chilly mornings & nights followed by strong winds accompanied us throughout our stay.
Our first trip that morning was down to
where we took tons of pictures with animals but this wombat really took the cake. See that hole just below my hand? Shit just pops out of it.
We fed the donkey
where I got really freaked out when Nina fed it cos it opened up its jaw to show off its huge teeth & brayed at us.
On our way back, we went some place, I really have no idea where, where we fed the birds. Nina, who's an animal lover is trigger happy to be surrounded by her best of friends & they in turn, are pleased with her presence.
On the way back, we stopped by
to perform our prayers.
It was off to the city, about 30 minutes away from our place of stay, the next day. Shopping at Hay Street... where in my opinion, shopping at Orchard Road is waaaay better. After which we headed to Kings Park, which by the way, is no where near Kingsway Park. The view of Kings Park, overlooking Swan River is breathtaking. We couldn't stay long as it rained that day.
I miss this guy who has been enlisted for NS right after our trip.
The next day, we packed our luggages & headed to the city for our second place of stay. Right smack at Hay Street, overlooking Swan River. A much better apartment than the first.
That day, it was spent shopping. From morning to night as shops closed at 9 that night.
On Saturday, the 9th of June, we drove all the freaking way to Lancelin, about 130+ km from the city. A disappointing trip as we were not allowed to rent the scramblers or the ATVs since we didn't have our medical equipment with us & the punks didn't wanna be responsible. Such asses.
Nevertheless, we walked our way around & enjoyed the view and the feel of the cool sand against our skin.
A video of us playing with sand, sliding down the slopes was shot. It was hilarious.
This trip took the whole day cos it was that blardy far.
Next day, on Sunday, Cik Din & family, a family friend who has migrated to Perth, fetched us from our apartment. He brought us to his place for breakfast where we had lontong. Yumz!
First stop for the day, Canningvale Market where the only stall that caught our attention was
No idea why the man beside us was in the picture too. Such narcissism. Tsk tsk.
Then we were brought to a more interesting place.
Fremantle Market.
We first visited
where I found a car as sexy as me. Haha!
Walked around a lil bit more
before we had lunch at
We had fish & chips, a supposed delicacy of the place but we've tasted better. However, since we're famished, we walloped everything up.
I can't resist the urge to upload this picture.
Doesn't she look every bit an angel?
After lunch, it was off to spend more money at the Fremantle Market. I love, love, love this place. Got many of my souvenirs here.
The next day, we visited an orchard which was packed full of
Persimmons.
This place was freezing cold though. Really cold with strong winds. I was practically shivering as I was only wearing my cardigan. Only my brother kept his cool with his T-shirt & berms.
After the farm visit, it was back to more financial damage to Mum's pocket at Westfield Carousel, another mall at another suburb. Cheap stuff, a lot cheaper than the city.
We sent back the car that night & Cik Din sent us back to our apartment in the evening when Mum called him for help.
On our last day, after checking out, we visited
which was a few blocks away from our apartment.
We viewed how coins were made, how gold bars were formed where pure gold was heated up to 1034 degrees before being poured to a mould. We also weighed ourselves to find out our value in gold. I was worth a mere 1.6 million dollars while my brother was worth a hefty 4 million bucks!
Here, we made friends.
Mum made firm friends with this guy.
My brother found the biggest gold nugget in the world
while I held the Hand of Faith.
Such were the rewards of hard work.
With hard work, one needs food for nourishment.
While waiting for our scones to arrive,
I was obsessed with taking still pictures
while Mum was obsessed with shooting videos.
Soon, Cik Din arrived to fetch us & our super heavy luggages, which tipped the scale by a lot.
Off to his house to spend the rest of the day before our flight at night. We managed to squeeze in a lil bit of shopping at the mall near his place though.
Thanks Cik Din & Cik Imah for all the help you've rendered to us & for the delicious food that we've been served with.
It had been a fun trip with lots of screaming & shouting as we tried to find our way around with the street directory, & lots of laughter as we drove around Perth. Driving in Perth is definitely waaay more enjoyable than driving in Singapore where the drivers are courteous in Perth. Singaporean drivers need no further 'fame'. Although the one too many roundabouts in Perth did drive me nuts at times as they made me fucking confused. Signboards in the suburbs are a rarity to find while those in the city were pretty confusing especially at the exits of the freeways. Driving in the city can get pretty maddening with too many one way streets forcing you to make one hell of a big round. Apart from that, I love driving in Perth. & I'm sure Acap feels the same way too. One thing's for sure, we'll miss driving at 110-130 km/h.
